Contact list links to ACCESS 2000

I would like to know what is the best way to keep track of contacts. I am in the process of job hunting and have approximately 20 fields that I have defined in an Access 2000 Table. I would like to link emails that I receive back to the db, or is their a better way of doing it?
Ultimately I need to know outstanding actions or calls to follow up at a later date.
