Contact List Sharing without Exchange

By resmith ·
Using Outlook 2000 in a peer to peer network without Exchange. Is there anyway to share the contact list besides using Net Folders. If we decide to return Outlook 2000 is there another app that would work for sharing contact lists without using a server. Lotus Notes?? Never used it, but not sure if it would cost us a fortune or be in the same position.

Are there any 3rd party tools that work by sharing the contact list etc...

Thanks

Lotus Notes is a high-end solution that would cost the same or more than an implementation of Exchange.

Outlook doesn't really provide support for peer-to-peer syncronization and Microsoft would really like you to buy Exchange so any solution will necessarily be a third-party product. Unfortunately, I can't make a recommendation because my only experience has been syncronizing an Outlook contact list with a Palm Pilot Desktop using Intellisync (I work in an Exchange environment).

I know this wasn't the whole answer but I hope it was a start.

Thanks... Everyone helped on this one... We have decided to wait and possibly use Act later on.

Dear Sir,

You can remove the Outlook 2000 Client and instead of this install the Exchange client or Mail Box Client that you can find in Windows 95/98/NT 4.
Good luck
Ron

Hi,
if you do not want to use an other product instead of OL2K you have to run a smtp-pop3 mail-server in order to use net folders. Try a freeware mail-server like mercury. Go to http://www.pmail.gen.nz
