    Contacting members

I don’t know how other subscribers feel about this, but I am a little concerned about the fact that if I contact another member, my email address is listed in the message.

Now, I get a fair amount of mail from ‘newbies’ asking for info/opinions/help (I even had a message from someone wanting to ‘partner up’ on the Q&A!). Every one of these messages has the member’s full email address.

I am, therefore, a little reluctant to address comments or queries to members as I do not want anyone bombarding me with their questions etc.

So, can TR instigate a system of private messaging. For example, the message stays at TR until the user next logs in and can see it. Or, can messages sent please have the email address omitted, so that just the username is shown?

We’re planning on adding that functionality later this year.

Another suggestion that has just occurred to me is could there be a prompt for members to reference articles/Q&A/Discussions they are talking about with the web address?

I often get queries from members about their Q&A questions and they rarely give an address, so I have to search for the member, then go through their questions. This does not work however, where many members have the same *name*@ member name – one I searched for returned several pages of results. I know that I can go through my list of recently answered questions, but I answer a lot of questions. Sometimes what they are refering to does not appear in my list if it is more than a week old.

        Cheers
