'Contacts' problem in Outlook

By patvandort ·
A user had just migrated to Win2k form Win 95. His Outlook *.pst, *.pab and settings were migrated to Office 2K. In win 95, he had syc'd his contacts from PAlmV to outlook. After the migration, when opening the 'Contacts' folder in outlook, all his contacts were there. The box in his 'properties' in 'contacts folder was checked so that 'contacts' was visible in the 'Adddress Book'. The problem is, when he opens the 'Contacts' folder form within the 'Address Book', he only sees an address for 'Palm Support'; none of his contacts are visible although they are visible when opened in Outlook Folder List. Any Ideas?, please!

'Contacts' problem in Outlook

If the user is still using his PAB then the details will not be in contacts (unless of course you transferred them into contacts when you started Outlook 2000). Try creating a new Contacts folder in his Perosnal Folders and copying all the details into this new one. Then set the new Contacts to appear in the address book and change the old contacts properties so it doesn't appear. If this doesn't work, then I'll need more detail and I'll be happy to help out again. Have fun!

Unfortunately the user has several hubdred entries in his contacts folder, manully transferring these is out of the question.
His contacts is in his PST file, it can be viewed in his Outlook Folder list. The problem is, when his outlook is made part of his Personal Address Book (right click 'contacts'/click properties/open the Outlook address book tab/ check the box Or do the same thing by opening address book and go to properties) his contacts does not appear, only a default message from 'Palm'.
Any PalmV gurus out here, is this a known problem with Palm Pilot installs? I have had two occureb=nces and a colleague has ahd one.

You said that transferring several hundred contacts is out of the question. I don't see why. Open the contacts folder, click in a blank space and Ctrl+A (Select All). Do a copy, open the new empty contacts folder and do a paste. I know it might not solve the issue, but it's a handy one anyway!!!

Sorry, I may not have made my self clear. It is not that easy as the user keeps updating his contacts and his secratary also updates his contacts. It is not convenient to keepcopying the contacts every time it is updated.
The problem still remains that his contacts folder, in its current state must be visible in his address book.
