Context Menu and Start Menu "Search"

By al_mathews ·
Can you help me troubleshoot my search option when selected from the Windows Start menu or from a context menu? The search companion toolbar button works fine but using right click search or selecting search from the start menu does nothing. Windows XP Pro SP2. I have searched the web and found several refs to the srchasst.dll and apparently that is not the problem. Any advice and assistance is greatly appreciated. Thank you.

I have the same problem on Windows 2003 Server sp2
I applied some security settings and now the
Instant Search from the Start > Search or
the right-mouse button Search items do not work.
The workaround is to launch Search from within
the Explorer (right click Explore) application.
It looks like the same GUI but this way it does
launch. Any ideas what registry settings control
the way the Instant Search launches separate from
the main Explorer GUI?
