Convert PDF to Word DOC format

I need a utility to convert PDF files to a format that MS word 2000 can open, preferably DOC.
The new file format must retain all the formatting of the original file.
The original files are lecture notes on programming in C++. The spacing and layout of the example programs in the documents are very important.
I don’t need to edit the DOC files, it’s just that my old laser printer gives up when I send PDF files to it, but it handles DOC files ok.
