    copy video files

    by olivianabrandon ·

We have over 400,000 video files(3TB) on my computer, all in various folders and drives. I want to copy all these files to another computer on the same local network. I used the search function for videos then I tried to move all these files to External HDD(4T) using the normal copy and paste and then to copy from the External HDD to the other computer, but it just freezes up due to size of files or the number of the files, and does not paste, I don’t know, It looks as though it does get the copy done. how do I resolve it?

    Best regards

    Oliviana

3TB will take a long time.

I’d use some other copy app. I like ROADKILS UNSTOPPABLE COPIER. Give that a try. Also, this is not something that will happen in a short time. Depending on your network and more, hours to days.

If you have good knowledge of the command line section, Robocopy is a good choice for transferring a large number of files, whatever you will send your files to HDD then to the other computer or you will use LAN to transfer directly to the other computer, but for me, I’d use some other file transfer Apps(GUI). I like Carbonite and Gs Richcopy360. no errors or freezing issues, will just complete to the end with 100% success, Give a try

For huge files like this one, it would take hours. I suggest you look into software like Robocopy or similar ones to lessen the time it would take and it would also make sure that your files will not freeze up.

5 Ways to Transfer Files From One Computer to Another
      1. Use an External Storage Media
      2. Share Over LAN or Wi-Fi
      3. Use a Transfer Cable
      4. Connect the HDD or SSD Manually
      5. Use Cloud Storage or Web Transfers
