Copying Address Book to New Laptop

By edward.j.obrien ·
I have just bought a new laptop and need to copy my Outlook Address Book from my PC. As I struggled with it, I reckon Microsoft thought really long and hard to make it as difficult as possible. Their 'Help' is also pretty well useless. (I managed to load all the contacts in "Contacts" but not the Address Book)

Can anyone walk me through this? I will be really grateful.

TIA for your time and trouble.

What versions of Outlook? (Or are we talking about Outlook Express)

Don't you want to migrate your stored emails, as well?

If we're talking about outlook:
Create a new data file for personal folders, make sure it is not encrypted. Remember where you put it.
Copy the contacts folder from its usual place into the new personal folder.
Then exit Outlook and copy the PST file to the new computer.
In the new computer, open "outlook data file" and locate the psd.
Copy the contacts to their new home.
(And keep the personal folders file as a backup.)

Edit: I had written PSD, where it should be PST.
