Dadgum it...closed the question by mistake. Need to know how to copy macros built on one PC to others in dept. We share a server, but Word is not installed there. Thanks for answers I know where to look for macros on my PC; how can I copy them to others?

There's the brut force method. Place normal.dot with all your updated macros on the network and write a script that copies it to C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\Templates when the user logins.

or,

when you record the macro leave it in the document. Place the document where users have access to it. Have them open the document. Press ALT-F8 and click on "Organizer...". Select the macros you want copied from the document side and click "Copy>>" to the "Normal.dot" side.

This could be automated via VBA but I don't have enough space here.
Enjoy,
JDKline

The easiers way I know to do this is to simlpy have all the users point to the same Normal.DOT on your network. That way, when you add a macro, to give it to everyone you will just need to copy the normal.dot on the shared drive.
To change each users normal.dot... go to Tools Options File Locations, User Templates..

GOOD LUCK!

I usually create a self-extracting file in WINZIP that I distribute to the users. In the creation of the .exe, change the default "extract to" directory to c:\program files\microsoft office\templates (or wherever your word is installed). I like this method better than the server method because it prevents users from accidentally deleting/changing the template on the server.

Hope this helps,
Melody

Hi,
I recently solved this problem for my organisation. I will try to share my knowledge.
First I do not want to share Normal.dot because this contains all personal settings.
So we made a new .dot file containing all shared macro's and VBA code. We put this file at a special place: Program files\Microsoft office\office\WRDSTART. The location maybe a bit different, but look for WRDSTART. This makes Word load all the macro's and VBA code. I can make hanges to the special dot file, distribute it and all colleges have a new standard. We use Computer Associates ShipIt to distribute the dot file, but there are many more ways to do so.

Thanks. Office not loaded on server. Good idea.

The easiest way is to store the macro in the document itself. That way who ever opens it has the macro available to them.
