Corrupt Normal.dot

Running Office XP. When I hit Enter key, cursor jumps to bottom of page. Also an inserted table with two lines comes up split in two with large gap between first and second. Tried removing and reinstalling Office XP. No difference. Cannot find way to edit and replace Normal.dot. Can anyone help please?
