Could Not open key: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\MICROSOFT\WINDOWs\…

Hello,

I am trying to install Itunes but I get the error message “Could Not open key: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\MICROSOFT\WINDOWs\…\-{501BADCD-F8F7-44CB-AC3F-6ED25C1A28B5}. Verify that you have sufficient access to that key, or contact your support personnel.” when it is installing.

I assumed that it was something to do with the Key value in the registry, so I went into Regedit and went into \HKEY_L0CAL_MACHINE\SECURITY and the key says: name “default” and the “value is not set” for data. The Modify data for the binary is 0 0 0 0 and there is the option to enter the value for the string when you click on the key. Do I need to change these?

What I am basically saying is that I don’t want to ruin the machine by fiddling around with changing values in the keys and this may not even be the correct key. So what do I need to do?

Do I need to post an HijackThis Log?

Thanks for reading,
