Cracked LCD

By bblatz ·

I had a bit of an accident and my laptop's LCD is now cracked. I know that I need to use an external monitor but it only shows the boot process and then assumes the broken LCD as primary. How do I use my external monitor and disable my laptop display. Any hekp is appreciated.
Thank you.

Try the BIOS

Try getting into the BIOS when it's booting to see if you can disable the LCD. The method for getting in depends on what laptop you have.

Also, some laptops have a blue (function) key assigned to switch from LCD to external monitor. Have you read the manual to see if you have one of those and how to use it?
