create image CD

By jiju371 ·

Please tell me how do I create image CD of an PC with operating system and all the application in it so that I can use this CD to bring up PC faster, then the traditional method, where a PC is loaded with the OS first, then one-by-one all the applications.

The traditional method is very time consuming. Please help me with the step-by-step process of how do I create an image CD. What will be the necessary additional applications/components needs for this.

Just get a FULL retail copy of Norton Ghost, and follow the instructions.

Remember, that you need a seperate license for the OS on each PC.

Also, watch for driver problems.

You may need several Ghost image CDs depending on how many different hardware configurations you have.

On Second Thought

Reviewing your question, you seem to believe that running Windows and applications from the CD will be quicker than using your hard drive.

This is not TRUE. In most systems, the hard drive transfers data faster than the CD drive.

If it takes your system a long time to boot up, you have other problems.

Start by cleaning up programs that run at startup.
Every Icon in the system tray uses up resources. Right click on, and disable those that you do not use / need daily.

Then, clean up your hard drive.
Files over 2 weeks old in the C:\Windows\Temp folder can safely be deleted.
So can most of your temporary Internet (cache) files.

Clean out your e-mail files to speed up loading of your e-mail program.
Instead of leaving files for future reference in your e-mail program, you can save the individual e-mails by subject, or contact as needed.

Then, boot into safe mode, and run scandisk and defrag to clean up the hard drive.
