Creating a “File DSN”

by techrific . Updated 21 years, 11 months ago

Howdy all, here is the deal….

We have an old RIS with oodles of data on it that we sometimes need to access.

a new machine that we need to setup the ODBC stuff on so that it can access it. (it is SQL server box)

I have no experience here, I dont know what I am doing…

I see on another machine the drivers that are installed, so i installed them….

but the “File DSN” I cant seem to add, I look on one of the other machines and see there are like 5 .DSN files, but they say non sharable, for example…

“Excel Files (not sharable).dsn”
“dBASE Files (not sharable).dsn”
“FoxPro Files (not sharable).dsn”
“MS Access 97 Database (not sharable).dsn”
“Text Files (not sharable).dsn”

Anyone know how I can re-create these so that I can make it work on the new PC?

Or at least tell me what I should be looking for to figure out how to configure?

THX!!!!

Sozo
