Creating a networkable link

By Goliathkutaa ·
I have a secured database that is on a shared drive. What I am trying to do it put a shortcut to this secured DB file that any user would be able to use. Some of my clients are on WinXP and others on Win NT 4. Is there a way to do this?!

Thanks, Nate

create the shortcut, and when asked to type the location of the item, enter the unc path to the DB. you can also browse for it if you want to but the browse window is a bit small.

I was able to get the UNC; but due to the structure of the user's network, Windows forced me to move the file to a higher level folder.

I tried that, but it wont give me the login choice. The way I have been able to open the DB is with this as the path:
"C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\Office\MSACCESS.exe" "C:\myDB\theDBFile.mdb" /WRKGRP "C:\myDB\Secured.mdw"
I move them all onto a network drive, and I guess some of the clients don't have thier msaccess saved to the same location. What else can I try???
