Creating Printer Ports over the network

By badfish ·
How can I (if possible) create printer ports without being on the NT4 print server? I can manage my printers once they are setup and even add using the shortcut to the printers folder on my print server, but the "Add port" and "configure port" is greyed out going to it through the network. Thanks in advance!

Creating Printer Ports over the network

There is a great VB script in the 2000 reskit that some colleagues of mine used to add printer ports to some 5000+ NT4 workstations. It's called portmgr.vbs, and all you need is the windows scripting host agent on the target machine (which, I think, goes on as standard with later versions of IE 4 but is also a downloadable add on) Let me know if you need a copy of the script -

Hope this helps...
