css inherit

By mikewindschitl ·
I am having a problem with css inheritance. The trouble is I don't want to have the p:first-letter happening on information contained in a table. The following code works with IE but not with firefox. I have tried many variations and can't seet to get it right. Does anyone have any suggestions.

Thanks,

My Css is

#content p:first-letter {
font-size: 1.25em;
color: #0000FF;
font-weight: bold;
font-family: Calligrapher, "Bookman Old Style", "Century Schoolbook", Verdana, Arial;
}

#content td p {
font-size: 1em;
font-weight: normal;
color: #000000;
font-family: Verdana, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif !important
}

Do this:

p.content:first-letter {
font-size: 1.25em;
color: #0000FF;
font-weight: bold;
font-family: Calligrapher, "Bookman Old Style", "Century Schoolbook", Verdana, Arial;
}

td p.content, td p.content:first-letter {
font-size: 1em;
font-weight: normal;
color: #000000;
font-family: Verdana, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif !important
}

<p class="content">
This will have the larger and blue first letter
</p>

<table><tr><td>
<p class="content">
This will NOT have the larger and blue first letter
</p>
</td></tr></table>
