cyclic redundancy error

By mbertel ·
I was trying to copy a file(photo .jpg) to my hard drive from the floppy drive. I had the following error.

Cannot copy x-ray 1(name of the file): Data error (cyclic redundancy check)

When I was trying to attach a file using outlook 98 I had the following error.

When attaching photos, the following error occurs Data error( cyclic redundancy check)

I would appreciate any solution to these errors. I had read about these errors a while back. Thanks for the help nad refresher.

I don't know all the technical details, but basically the OS is reporting an error in reading the floppy. After the data is read an algorithm is used to insure all the 1's and 0's add up to a number stored with the file. In your case it didn't.
You might be able to read the disk on the machine that created it. Or the floppy has failed mechanically or magnetically.

Good luck.
