D-Link router vs. AOL sign-on protocol

By demone6453 ·
I am running a XP Home system on a high speed broadband cable from AOL/Time Warner (not Roadrunner).
The system work fine until I try to connect my newly purchased D-link 624 wireless router. I have it configured properly but everytime I try to log onto AOL it hangs at the step where it is talking to network. I believe that is where the AOL sign-on request is initiated.
I was able to connect for two weeks until I had to reorient my system and I disconnected everything.

call aol or d-link tech support. not all routers will work with aol. u recommend buying router directly thru aol. if you had this working before with that router then see if you can get just one computer on-line again. when you do, type go home network. then you will see instructions for configuring aol on other computers. basically you want to configure both settings in your location to Home Network. If Home Network option doesn't appear, you need to go on-line and type in keyword Home Network. that puts the Home Network configuration on your machine. aol bites imho
