DATA LOOKUPS IN EXCEL

I want to be able to type in a name (John Doe) and have 2 values (docket number and case number) returned. I haven’t used excel in while but I know there is a way to do this using the lookup function. Can anyone help and reply with an example preferably a spreadsheet?
