    Data Recovery

    Locked

    by burland ·

I am managing a small TS department for a company that makes and sells medical digital imaging equipment. Company is 17 years old and has used several archival routines and media in past years. As the images are “medical records”, per-se, they need to be accessable for many years. I am going to purchase data recovery software and realize that I will have to buy from several vendors to cover the types of media used in the past. I am asking for your opinions and experience with this type of software to be able to make an “informed” purchase decision. Supported media types are Sony Optical, JAZ and CD-RW drives. HDD recovery would be a bonus, but not necessarily a consideration. Thanks in advance.

A couple of things to consider before you move on :-

      1) Type of Data , size and quantity
      2) Speed of access to the data store
      3) Budget
      4) How Valueable is the data and the % store on each type of media.
Each type of methods which you havecurrently have adv/disadv . Sony Optical – Media is very stable , does not loss data easily but costly . Jaz , cheaper but not very user friendly. CD-RW , cheapest but not very recommended for long term storage type of media.Good for personal backuponly.
I would recommend Optical for the speed of access , stability which sometimes outweight the rest .
