database design in Excel

I know MS Access is the most suitable for this but is it possible to create a database in Excel which stores the following:
3 production lines say(A, B, C) and around 9-10 machines on each production line. the database would contain information like machine speed, efficiency, control, Technical Spec etc etc

There could be two combo boxes one for selecting the line and the other for selecting the machine and based on the selection only the data for that particular machine on that line would be diplayed in front of the user.
The other problem is that this database should be easy to maintain ie it should be easy to add/modify/delete a machine in the combo box for a particular line.
