.dbf has become corrupted

By HermesSeena ·
Hi experts,
I am using a system compiled in VFP 9.0. A day or two ago I received an error which says that filename.dbf has become corrupted. To be specific the error number is 2005, Error loading file - record number 28. Just for the record, it can be repaired by appending a copy from temp file, created with VFP 6. What gives?

Check TableValidate

by Mosswort In reply to .dbf has become corrupted

Tell me at first, what is the setting of TableValidate? Because the older version-tables don`t have the AutoInc bytes in the Header. This why you could get an error, because the position of the counter bytes is different check, so VFP can`t validate the record count, the values don`t match up.
For this issue solution is to set tablevalidate = 0

In case if the method above doesn't help, then try to solve this issue through any third-party tool. I can recommend you Recovery Toolbox for DBF. You can download a trial version.
