Default 'Search' How do I change to Open or Explorer on Files tab?

I have for a long time had to open files, programs, etc. by right clicking on the file, file folder, program, etc. The default is Search. How do I change this default to Open or Explorer? As is I left click on icon on desktop then riglt click and on menu that pops up right click on menu of choice "open, explorer" to open the program, file, etc. How do I change this? I don't want to use Search then have to close Search and right click to open file.

4 years on TR and you're expecting an answer by email ??...

by OldER Mycroft In reply to Default 'Search' How do ...

You surely should know that we don't DO emails. Where have you been for the last 4 years?

I suggest you remove your email address forthwith or you run the very definite risk of being drenched with SPAM, since TR is a public forum and you have just broadcast your email address to the planet.

I'm not quite sure what you have asked - why would you need to right-click a folder?

Are you saying that a 'double left-click' produces no result?

Have you checked your mouse settings? Perhaps it is set for a left-handed user.

Are you aware that you asked this question TWO YEARS AGO, and at that time CaptBilly1Eye gave you the answer you needed?

But then I'd have to kill you.

This is what Microsoft says about it

Important This section, method, or task contains steps that tell you how to modify the registry. However, serious problems might occur if you modify the registry incorrectly. Therefore, make sure that you follow these steps carefully. For added protection, back up the registry before you modify it. Then, you can restore the registry if a problem occurs. For more information about how to back up and restore the registry, click the following article number to view the article in the Microsoft Knowledge Base:

Problem: Search Companion may start when you double-click a folder instead of the folder being opened. Or, if you have associated other actions with file folders, those actions may be performed instead.

To resolve this issue, follow these steps:
Start Registry Editor. (click "Start"..."Run"....type regedit)
Locate the Default value under the following registry subkey:
HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Directory\shell
On the Edit menu, click Modify.
In the Value data box, type none.
Click OK.
Exit Registry Editor.
