Dell 1901FP monitor, Power Switch problem

By robby ·
Hi,

I have a Dell 1901FP monitor connected to a Dell Inspiron running Windows XP Pro / SP-3. The power switch (a button with an integrated LED light) recently stuck in the On position. I'm not sure if this is a mechanical or software problem. The on-screen display shows a picture of a large padlock no matter which menu button is pressed. I updated the monitor driver without any noticeable change. I'll be grateful for any help you can give...

The Monitor is Locked. You'll need to grab the user Manual here and read it to find out what you need to do to unlock it.

Thanks for your help so far, but...

Hi folks,

Thanks for your help with this. I should have clarified that my problem seems to be mechanical, i.e. that the power switch cannot be depressed in the normal way which turns the monitor off. It is true that I see the padlock icon when pressing any menu button, but I am not able to access the menus, as the manual suggests, to "unlock" the monitor. Also, changing the display settings doesn't seem to change anything. All other ideas are welcome!
Best,
