dell bios user options 'lock out'

By dp.reynolds ·
I'm 'locked out' of most of the bios options on a dell latitude CPt- ?any constructive suggestions pls?

fyi - have today flashed the eprom from A10 to A14 hoping to cure the problem but without success; I did have 'win xp pro plus SP1' installed (with the problem as described) but after the bios update I re/installed win2000 for numerous reasons.

I've trawled various sites hoping to find a remedy (without success so far)so any help or constructive input greatly appreciated.

many thanks and happy new year

Password?

Either figure out the password, or replace the motherboard. That's about all you can do. As far as I know manufacturer's stopped building in the "password clear" switch, and removing the CMOS battery won't work either.

Reset Password

You need to reset the admin password. You need a program called svctag. This will reset the passwords on dell laptops. Good luck. Let me know if you can't find it.
