Dell Certs aren't the greatest

by SteveF68 In reply to Dell Certifcation

My company paid for me to get Dell ceritified across all of Dell's platforms: Desktops, Workstations, Laptops, and Servers. The certs are basically a certification in how to surf Dell's website to find what you are looking for, which is not entirely a bad thing. One benefit of being Dell certified is that you can login to their premier support website and order parts no questions asked, provided your company has authorized you to order parts. But if whatever system you are working on is underwarranty, you can pretty much do that anyway! But you probably already knew that.
The other thing that I don't like about the Dell Certs is that they are only good for one year. After the year is up, you have to pay them again, take the tests again, etc. At least the certs look good on a resume.
You are better off just getting your A+ (which I assume you already have) and hands on experience.
Of course, don't EVER forget the soft skills!
Here is the link to Dell's premiere site:

I wouldn't bother, the laptop cert might be worth while, but the rest, A+ is enough. Unless you worked for dell or a dell authorized service center, I wouldn't bother. Go for networking if anything. The Dell cert is not going to get you much $$$.

DCSE tests

by carl_illig In reply to

I agree that the dell cert is not going to help much on a salary, but dell does offer premier access support where you can get parts from dell under the LOB you are certified w/o t/s. That is the main benifit of the DCSE.
