Dell Latitude D620

By aiavive ·
I replaced the system board on a Dell Latitude D620, owner came back after using the notebook for 2 days, now the notebook won't start, it will turn the power light on for about 4 seconds and then it shuts off, not even a BIOS boot. I opened it again and noticed that I had neglected to connect the CMOS battery. I connected it, charged it overnight, but still won't boot up.

Replace the CMOS battery. It may have discharged all the way.

Did replacing the CMOS work for you? I have the same Dell Latitude D620. I didn't replace the motherboard like you...mine just died in the middle of an email.

As you explained, power lights come on for 3 - 4 seconds then it shuts off. No POST or anything.
