How do I custom install in Windows 2000? For instance I don’t want any games installed on the computers I deploy. I have installed w2k on many computers and yet to find a custom install.

Mastering Group Policies would be the best way. That way you get get the installation done, then later control the desktops. Group Policies replace System Policies in NT 4.0. The idea is that you can control the desktop via a policies. The administrators get everything (including games!) the users only get what they need e.g. (no games! no Settings Tab in the control panel.

Another tactic would be to use unattend scripts which you can prepare using the Setup Manager in the Resource kit. Finally have a look at the RIS service (Remote Installation Service)

I also found that if you edit the file Sysoc.inf located in %systemroot%\inf. You can actually get the Games to appear in the Add/Remove Program list. Unistall them and then hide the games again so that people can’t install them.
