I had to add a password to a machine and lost all the info and files that were on the desktop.
Details:
1. Machine runs Windows XP Pro NOT on a Domain, but on a home network.
2. I went to Control Panel>User Accounts>UserXX and changed the password from not having one to Monica.
The next time i logged on all the files and icons were missing.
I did not think that this was supposed to happen. There is only one use account on this machine but i could not get into it via remote desktop as that requires a password.
Can anyone tell me how to recover the missing files.
