Desktop PC Power Supply

By sdoherty82 ·
I bought a laptop a little over a year ago because my desktop PC was dying. I am not sure that I had transferred all the files from the desktop however shortly after I got the laptop the power supply on the desktop died. Is it possible to plug the HDD from the desktop into my laptop somehow to retrieve any files that are still on the desktop PC??

Or you can go to a USB Enclosure

Like the one listed here under the USB 2 Enclosures and you'll need to look at the 3.5 inch ones

Why not just replace the power supply in the desktop

by kmason In reply to Desktop PC Power Supply

If your desktop pc is worth saving just replace the power supply. It's simple and shouldn't cost you more than 40-50 bucks.

Thanks for the thought however the desktop was dying anyway hence the reason for purchasing a laptop (and for ease of movement etc). So a new power supply could do the trick but if i buy the cable then i have it if i need it...
Thanks again
