Devs who have been around the block, how do you deal with meeting interrupt
I am one of those that takes a little bit of time to get into the flow state. But once I’m there, I don’t like any distractions. I feel like meetings are the worst kind of distractions because they completely interrupt my flow, and it takes at least 10 minutes to get back into it once the meeting is over.
When I started at my latest company, it was smaller and there were fewer meetings – I had one or two a day.
Now, I typically have 3-5 meetings throughout the day and I RARELY get blocks of time longer than 1.5 hours for dev work.
Why do they think this is productive?? Wouldn’t you think they would prioritize dev work instead of constant interruptions?
So those who have been through this same thing, how have you dealt with it? Any tips or strategies to bring this up to my VP of eng?

Just a thought. If you have clients that you work for, you can’t always schedule the time that they may need to contact you. In other words, you make time to address their needs/concerns when they need your help.
Typically, the bigger your company gets and the more clients you take on, the more interruptions you can expect. You could always hire someone to act as an intermediary to route the client’s needs/concerns in a fashion better suited to your needs/desires.
