DHCP and static IP addrs. on single NIC

by otura . Updated 25 years, 2 months ago

Hello… here is my question…

I have a portable computer in wich I will install NT or 2000. I’m going to get it connected to corporate and home networks. And here comes the trouble… It needs to have a static IP address for the home network and to be compatible with DHCP for the corporative one.

I know that I can setup a NIC with two static addresses, but can I set up one static addr. and one dinamic addr.

It’s going to be a ‘technoplegic user computer’, there is no way to teach himhow to configure tcp/ip manually…

A way to script the configuration of tcp/ip in order to reconfigure on start up or on a clic over a icon should be wellcome also…

Thanks in advance to all of you willing to help…
