    DHCP Servers

    Locked

    by jmiller ·

I have a WAN with 3 locations. One has the PDC, 30 users, a DHCP server, and a Cisco 2600. It’s connected to the second via a T1 and a Cisco 1700 that also doubles as a DHCP server for 25 users (at site 2) although there is a BDC at that locationn. The third link is connected to the second via fiber and a Cisco 1700 that also doubles as a DHCP server for 10 users (at site 3). I never see the no domain server available at the first location with the PDC. This leads me to beleive that the routers might not be the best DHCP device. Should I use the BDC at location 2 to server as the DHCP server for locations 2 and 3?

    Thanks,
    Jimmy

Since you have such nice setting, where bandwith does not seem to be a problem, I would setup a BDC with DHCP and WINS replicating between the two or three sites, that will cut down on authentication time and locating resources on the LAN.

      Good Luck!
