Dial-up BDC & Dial-up Exchange Site

by shanghai sam . Updated 24 years, 6 months ago

Hi

I have two physical location with two different NT 4.0 domains and two different Exchange Server 5.5 installed on the PDC. Each location has its own SMTP domain in two different ISP. After the merge of the two site under one management, we needed to facilitate our e-mail systems to exchange mails especially after the movement of some employees between the two locations. For the time being, I have created custom recipients for the moving users and assign them to their original e-mail addresses as an alternate recipient. This can do well in only one direction and I am not sure whether the problem was with our ISP or in our Exchange Server configuration.

I want to apply the idea of installing a BDC in the secondary location that replicates the Directory service via dial-up. And I will install Exchange Server on this BDC that can also replicates the Exchange information via dial-up.
If I can manage to setup the configuration above, I will keep only one SMTP account which is the primary location’s.

Pls. confirm the possibility of the above setup and advise for some details regarding the configurations of the NT 4.0 and Exchange 5.5.

Thanks in advance
