Dial up connection disconnects

By lorand ·
My dialup connection (56K)will dialup & connect fine but, after 20 or 30 secs, it will disconnect for no reason. My modem log tells me that the remote server has servered the connection. I can connect to the same server on a 33.6K connection with no problems. Any ideas?

If you are convinced that your PC is not at fault try these:

1. Try dialing into another service, if possible. If it works, try option 3.

2. Use another phone line. Your line could be marginal and not able to keep up the connection at 56k.

3. Swap modems. Modems just don't like each other. No matter what you're using, try something different.

Sounds like you need a line filter or a more robust modem. You're losing packets in the line noise, causing the disconnect.
