Dialup Connection via OUTLOOK and WinXP

by lmayeda . Updated 24 years, 4 months ago

I am having problems connecting to an email server via dialup connection using Outlook on a WinXP laptop. The dialup connects to AOL, Internet Explorer. When configuring OUTLOOK to Always dial the connection…OUTLOOK then dials AOL, and presents awindow that says that a connection is already established … if I select “Try to locate the server on the current connection” I can then send/read mail. In an attempt to get rid of this “extra” step, I selected, “Locate the server on the current connection” and checked the box “don’t warn me again”. Now, OUTLOOK cannot connect to the mail server. Note: AOL’s Read/Write mail works fine, but since this is a business machine, I would like to use our existing mail servers. I have resorted tousing Outlook Express, but since the CEO is used to using OUTLOOK, I would like to be able to get it to work.
