Steps to disable pop-up ads in Win XP & 2000 OS ?
NAV spam block no help.
Also NAV spam block misses real spam and targets newsletters. How can the config be changed?

1. Shut down the Windows messenger service.

2. Switch to the Mozilla Web browser. The built in pop-up blocker is VERY effective.

3. Install one of the many pop-up blockers that are available.

SPAM blockers are of very limited functionality. They generally look at how an e-mail is addressed. Newsletters are OFTEN mistaken as SPAM as they have long address lists.

Popups in IE are a plague. In XP Service Pack 2 (coming out in a few months), Microsoft has said they will include a popup blocker. Until the, do what TheChas said, and get a popup blocker.
I suggest the Google Toolbar with built-in popup blocker:
Best damn thing in the world!

As for spam, there is no product that will block all spam. Sorry. You just gotta deal with it as best as you can.

Thanks for your help. Use google search all the time but was not aware of the other functions that appear to be useful and may be very useful.
