    Display problems

    Locked

    by ravi77 ·

Hi, I have a HP Compaq NX9010 laptop. It was working fine for around 2 years. These days I have problems with display. The display suddenly turns off, but if I see carefully and deeply, I can see the computer is working fine. Just the display. It happens if I touch the tilt of the notebook. I have just kept it at an angle and have been using it. Occassionally, display turns off and I have to hard boot the laptop. After the restart it is usually fine for another 15 mins or so depending on its mood. it is highly irritating.

Has one one any solution or any experience of this problem?

    Regards
    Ravi

The ‘inverter’ is starting to die

The ‘inverter’ is one of two components that exist behinf your laptop screen and is responsible for the distribution of light across the screen.

The tilting symptom is very common and indicates that the contacts are eroding.

You should consider a repair from an approved computer technician. Doing it yourself is feasible if you are confident working on laptop components.

Inverter costs vary but in the UK, start around ?55.

I have dissembled the laptop LCD screen before and have put it back successfully on 2 occasions. I am however not a technician and followed the manual to open the LCD screen. How do i know what an inverter looks like and which to replace? I had a quote from a company based in London for ? 140. If I dissemble the laptop and send you a screenshot, would you be able to point the inverter for me? Also is the inverter a common part or does its spec depend on the laptop type.
        I appreciate your help.
        Thanks
        Ravi
