Display problems on Tablet PC using Term

By tekster537 ·
I am having a problem with my tablet PC (Toshiba Portege 3505). I am connection to a Win2K Terminal Session via RDP client, and when the resolution is set to FULL SCREEN and I switch from landscape position to portrait the display goes haywire. When I reduce the resolution in the TS, and use a window, it works okay. I have been researching this problem and believe it relates to the session only having certain display settings which are common for everyday monitor displays. I assume since the the session is handed down that the local OS/Display does not recognize the tab pc's portrait resolution setting.

If any one has encountered this problem, let me know.

Display problems on Tablet PC using Term

i have encountered this problem as well (i am also using a Toshiba Protege 3505) although i havent connected as yet to a Win2K Terminal yet.

As far as i know there is something meantioned about Tablet PC's and the same problem within the Microsoft Knowledge Base... an update should fix it....

Although i have no background knowledge about the TS and so forth, but it seems to me that the TS session is trying to influence the Tablet's Resolution and Display Settings - and according to a network admin / computer technician this is not all that un-common. Tablet PC's are a fairly new thing and the Win2K TS wasnt really designed for it.

Hope all of this helps

Well for some odd reason Microsoft removed the article from the Knowledge Base... probably to do a more comprehensive research project on it or something.

However i have asked a Microsoft Tech Support guy (i know this guy and he is my friend also)... and he assures me that Windows 2000 Service Pack 3 (SP3) will fix this problem.

On a side note; it could just be quite possibly a defect in Windows 2000's Operating System Architecture - it might not be able to translate at full screen the image being displayed on the portrait settings...
