distribution list in Outlook 2003

Hi,

Does anybody know how to add a space in front of the distribution list name in Outlook XP and 2003? I was able to do this on Outlook 2000 but with XP and 2003 it would not let me save the list with a space in front of the name. It automatically deletes the space everytime I try to save.

The reason I’m doing this is to structure so that all my distribution list shows up first before all my other contacts. So far, the only way I know how to do this is to put a space in front of the distribution list name. Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks!

If you just want them to appear first, why not start them off with either a “1” or and “A?”

As in “1-Distribution List.” That would put them ahead of your contacts.

An underscore would be your best bet. That way, if you get entries in your address book including numbers, the groups will still show up before the individual entries.

Thank you for both of your comments but I was looking for more of a solution to adding a space in front of the name. I’m very much aware that I can place a symbol in front of the name to get the same result but in our case, it’s not going to work. Thanks for trying though.

Does anybody else have anymore suggestions?

Thru ADSIedit, this has to be installed from support\tools in 2003 server CD. select particular user,can edit display name,insert blank spacesin the begining ,results in particular user appearing at top. have to be administrator of domain.have to be carefull in editing AD database
