Distribution Lists on Exchange 5.5

By mtreske ·
My question concerns distribution list in Exchange 5.5. My boss has a Newsletter he wishes to send to 100 or so of our agents. He says that we should be able to put it on the Exchange Server so it would be visiable like the Global list is. I can't see any way of creating a DL with addresses which don't reside in the Active Directroy. I'm I missing something?

Also he wants the messages to be bcc so they can't see the others it is sent to, and show in the "TO" box each individual's name, so itwould be personalized.

I have not been able to find a way to do that either.

We are running Outlook 2000 and Windows 2000 systems.

Any suggestions on how to get him what he wants?

Thanks.

I think there's another way to accomplish what he wants. Look for Mass Mail at this location:

The easiest way to do this.

Use Gammadyne Mailer
(www.gammadyne.com)

The problem with what you are wanting to do is that you need to create a custom recipient to put into the distribution list. Yes it can be done, but it is pointless since the exch admin is the only one who can create custom recipients.

Unless of course you like adding e-mail address's to the exch server. Which is not a good idea anyways.

Your best bet is to go with a commercial e-mail generator like Gammadyne.
Why Gammadyne (no I am not a salesman, although I have been using it for years).

It is extremely powerful, multithreaded, can link up to databases like access and sql, can be customized. It is the shitzva.

You also get free updates for life. Yes you heard it right. I bought it when it was $35 and have upgraded about 20 times. (although now it is around 150)

He keeps this software up to date and is always adding features and revisions. It is worth every penny.

But do not haveit use it's own smtp engine to send out. Send the e-mail to your exchange server for relay.
