    DLT vs. AIT tape drive

    Greetings,

    I’m going to be buying a medium-sized tape drive for backups. The two options I’m considering are DLT format and AIT format. The former seems to be more broadly used and the latter has greater speed and capacity but also only appears to be supported by Sony drives.

    Any opinions/advice?

      We have four DLT drives and have had a worry free experience with them all. We were using DAT tapes and have found the DLT back-ups are much faster. Like you said about supporting companies, ours are also Sony.
