    DNS & Sendmail Configuration

    I am planing to setup a DNS server and email server using sendmail. Could anyone give me a suggestion on how to accomplish this, or better yet get some online manuals for this.
    Do i need a registered domain name for my email to work on the internet. Many thanks to any suggestions u can give me 🙂 ..

      You will want to get a domain name too.

      You need to register a domain name and get an ISP who will allow you to manage your own DNS. You’ll also need some real IP addresses.

      Then get the book “DNS and Bind” by Paul Albitz & Cricket Liu published by O’Reilly which will tell you how to set up DNS.

      In this case install bind8 (the previuos releases of bind had some security problem) and set up following the document that cames with your distro.

      If you have further problem I can send you my config files …

      Regardin sendmail with RH be sure to set up your sendmail to refuse connection from outside, otherwise others my use your SMTP for spamming, anyway you can also replace sendmail with qmail.

        carini.. can u send me a sample config file so i could stydy it and learn more from that sample config. if u can please send one which blocks connection from spammers. thank u very much again for your help..
