DNS server to Exchange

By Smeglor ·
Is it safe to forward ports 53,80, and 443 on my firewall so that public users can access thier exchange accounts? This is what I got:

DSL Connection
NAT/Firewall
Router
Various switches
Server1(Domain controller and DNS server)
Server2(Redundant Domain controller/DNS)
Server3(IIS server/MS SQL server)
Server4(MS exchange server/IIS)
Server5(file/backup)
*All servers are running W2k3

The request will be forwarded to the DNS server, then to the Exchange server.

This only requires 80/443 and the RPC ports be open. You could also upgrade to Exchange 2003 and use OWA because 03 replaces the RPC requirement with RPC over HTTP.

OWA is the right solution here unless the users absolutely need more from their client that 2kOWA offers and there again 03 OWA resolves like 99% of the complaints I've seen in the past.
