There have been several discussions of late, regarding ‘toxic negativity’, bullying at work, and so on.
You know, the real issue is simply – do you want to work there? Here are some of the ‘downsides’.
* The boss is a bully.
* I work alongside people who are jusy putting their time in.
* There is no scope for creativity.
* Management only cares about the time I spend at the desk, not the quality of my work.
You can add your own, of course.
And then there are the upsides!
* The sheer thrill of coming up with an elegant solution.
* The glow you get from helping to coach another to success.
* The warmth you feel in the knowledge you work for a good and decent company
* Delivery of a project that your business users positively welcome.
I am a positive advocate for ‘voting with your feet’! If you are as mad as heck, and not willing to take it anymore, then take positive steps to find something better. Do not settle for being less than you can be.
It’s my thoughtthat there will then be a process of osmosis over time. Good people will gravitate towards the good, the others will stay where they are.
And you know what? There really are some decent, good organizations out there. They are worth seeking out.
Alternatively, do what I did. Creat your own consultancy and market yourself directly. That works too.
I’d like to hear your thoughts, please.
