Documents Corrupting

By lumberjack ·
The system we have at the moment is
Various PCs ranging from 700MHz-2.6GHz, with 256MB to 512MB

One site has NT4 SP6 running Office 2000
Documents held on Compaq servers running Advanced Server 2003 -Active Directory.

There have been numerous occasions were varioous users have openned known good copies of Word documents
(Open/save/close fine on PCs in other sites)
for them to be faced with hieroglyphics.

Any ideas?

Converters: When installing Office 2K it does not install converters by default. Thus compatibility is not consistent.
Ensure that they either have rights to the converters or run setup on the ststion itself and during custom install, expand the tree by clicking the cross beside each peice of software and click on each Item choosing RUN FROM THIS COMPUTER it will then install any needed converters to make document visibilty compatible with all machines.

The documents are word documents already in the applicable version, so not a conversion issue. Some were originally Word 6 format - some created in Word 2000.
Thanks anyway

You may want to check the fonts that are installed on each computer. If they don't have a font that was used in the document, it my turn into gobbly ****. Also, I have found that different printer drivers can effect shared documents. I hope you figure this one out!
