I would research your laptop first before up grading to XP.... I have scene it become a nightmare, if it will even install... So double check and make sure you can find all the correct drivers first...

When you say none of your things work with Vista, what things?.

What software OR things are you talking about?.
I am running Vista and i can run any software i like (Windows based). So if you come back with a more detailed outlook i might be able to help you, or you can run the software in "compatibility mode". Right Click on the software in question and select "properties > compatibility", in this box you can select with flavour of Windows you want to run your software under, you can go as far back as Windows 95 if you have to.
SO, post back with your problems about your kind of software. :)

Please post back if you have any more problems or questions.
If this information is useful, please mark as helpful. Thanks.

Depends on your laptop (make and model) really...

The transition from Vista to XP is not just a matter of sourcing then installation.

You've got to be completely sure that you've ALREADY got all the necessary drivers for every device under XP. Going looking for them after you've installed XP is too late, you must know that you've got them before you embark on the install.

Go into your device manager, make a note of all the devices and all the drivers - then go online and ensure you can download the drivers for your laptop running XP.

You'll also have to get hold of SATA drivers for your hard drive, these will be available from the manufacturer of your laptop's motherboard.

Only once you have ALL the drivers, should you then proceed with the conversion of the OS.

I have the OEM Version of Windowes XP MCE. Works great. Searching for drivers first sounds like a really good idea.
