Does Open Office (or any other freeware) work with Word Formfill?

By bob77duncan ·
I live in a retirement community and we have a "Vial of Life" program, which is a paper with all health info placed in a prescription bottle in the fridge for Rescue Squad use in emergencies. I created a MSWord FormFill template for easy completion and revisions as health events change! Most people do not have Word and therefore cannot use the FormFill template. Is there anything in the freeware family that will allow using a FormFill template?

Appears to work in OOo

I just googled a Word form document, downloaded it, made sure it worked in Word, then opened it in OpenOffice. The fields seemed to work just fine, including menus and fill-in-the-blanks.

Depends on which Word Format you are using

the DOC format isn't an issue at all but with older versions of OO and DOCX Word Files you will have a problem.

To use the native Word 2007 Format you'll need the newest version of OO 3.5 I think it is.
