We have a couple of Domino servers that suddenly get real busy and don't allow connections. The only thing that really seems to be taking up any extra processing is the beremote service. After stopping beremote the problem is still there so we are not sure if this is related. Domino will not restart and the whole server needs to be restarted before it starts working fine again. People who already have connections can still work but no one new can connect until it is restarted. We have checked for spyware and our Symantec anti-virus is up to date.

beremote is the name of the agent that Backup Exec uses for remote servers. The backup is never actually running when the server starts having problems.
The Domino server also has Novell client 4.**. I don't really think it is a good idea to have the client on the server but unless I find a good enough reason to remove it then I think it will stay there.
Because of company policy there are basic screensavers on each server that lock after not being active. I removed the screensaver on one to see if it makes a difference. Since this doesn't happen all of the time and we can not force the server to have this problem it may take a while to know if this works. I found the screensaver issue at a Novell web site.
